KEY DETAILS

 

On the weekends of September 12 - 13 and 19 – 20, planned construction (MTC) is taking place on the Barrie line, Kitchener line and UP Express.

 

Here’s what you need to know:

 

  • Kitchener Line:
    • GO trains will only run between Mount Pleasant GO and Mount Dennis GO.
    • GO buses will replace train service between Stratford or Kitchener and Mount Pleasant GO stations.
    • There will be no GO Transit service at Bloor GO station.
    • Service will be adjusted on September 11, 14-18 and 21-22 to support this important work.
    • There will be select GO buses running between Stratford or Kitchener GO and Hwy 407 Bus Terminal.
    • To note: Subway service on Line 1 between St Clair and College will be closed on September 19 and 20. Visit ttc.ca for details.
    • Here’s the why: As part of GO Expansion, planned construction is taking place on the Kitchener line for the future Stockyards Station. During the closure, crews will install foundational elements to support replacement of the Grand River bridge and conduct maintenance on retaining walls along the line.

 

Regular scheduled service will resume Wednesday September 23, 2026.

KITCHENER LINE

 

Will there be train service this weekend on the Kitchener line?

 

 

Yes. On the weekends of Sept. 12-13 and 19-20, GO trains will run between Mount Pleasant and Mount Dennis GO stations and GO buses will replace train service between Stratford or Kitchener and Mount Pleasant GO stations. You can get to Union from Mount Dennis by taking the ECLRT Line 5. 

 

There will be select GO buses running between Stratford or Kitchener GO and Hwy 407 Bus Terminal. 

 

 

Why is there no Kitchener train service?

 

As part of GO Expansion, planned construction is taking place on the Kitchener line for the future Stockyards Station. During the closure, crews will install foundational elements to support replacement of the Grand River bridge and conduct maintenance on retaining walls along the line.

 

 

If there is no train service, how will I get to and from Toronto?

 

 

If you’re travelling from Kitchener, Guelph Central, Acton or Georgetown GO stations, you can take the regular GO bus routes 31 and 33 to connect to train service at Mount Pleasant GO. Please note that train service will end at Mount Dennis. If you’re travelling to Union Station, you can stay on the bus to Hwy 407 Bus Terminal and connect to TTC Line 1. There will be select GO buses running between Stratford or Kitchener GO and Hwy 407 Bus Terminal. 

 

If you’re travelling from Bramalea GO to Union, you can take the regular GO bus route 47 to Hwy 407 Bus Terminal and connect to TTC Line 1 south to Union Station.  

 

If you’re travelling to Union Station from all other stations, take the train to Mount Dennis GO and: 

From Mount Dennis, take the ECLRT Line 5 to connect to TTC Line 1 to Union Station (55 minutes). 

 

There will be no GO Transit service at Bloor GO station. If you are travelling from Bloor station to Union Station: 

  • Take TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Yonge) to connect to TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University) at St. George station (11 minutes).

 

 

When will regular service resume?

 

Regular service will resume on Wednesday September 23.

KITCHENER LINE:

 

  • Friday September 11:
    • The 21:34 train departing Union Station will end at Georgetown GO, arriving at 22:35.
      • This train will not stop at Acton, Guelph Central or Kitchener GO. 
      • GO bus route 31Y will be available from Georgetown GO, running all stops to Kitchener GO.
    • The 22:34 train departing Union Station will arrive at Kitchener GO five minutes later at 00:31.
    • The 23:34 train departing Union Station to Mount Pleasant GO will not run. 
      • If you’re travelling to Brampton or Mount Pleasant GO, proceed to Union Station Bus Terminal, and catch the 23:25 GO bus route 31K.
      • If you’re travelling to Malton or Bramalea GO, proceed to Union Station Bus Terminal and catch one of the GO bus route 31L trips departing between 23:25 and 23:35.
    • There will be no service to Bloor, Mount Dennis or Weston GO stations.
    • If you’re travelling to Bloor GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to St. George. Transfer to TTC Line to at St. George to Dundas West, then walk approximately 2 minutes to Bloor GO. (29 minutes)
    • If you’re travelling to Mount Dennis GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to Cedarvale. Transfer to TTC Line 5 from Cedarvale to Mount Dennis. (41 minutes)
    • If you’re travelling to Weston GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to Lawrence West. Transfer to TTC bus route 52G to Lawrence Ave. West at Ralph St, then walk approximately 7 minutes to Weston GO. (58 minutes)

 

  • September 14 – 17:
    • Train arrival and departure times will be adjusted up to ten minutes earlier or later than regularly scheduled.
    • The 09:34 train departing Union Station to Kitchener GO will not stop at Etobicoke North GO. 
      • If you’re travelling to Etobicoke North GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to Bloor-Yonge, then transfer to TTC Line 2 to Kipling. From Kipling, take TTC bus route 45B to Belfield Rd. at Kipling Ave., then walk approximately 3 minutes to Etobicoke North GO station. (1 hour 11 minutes)

 

  • Friday September 18:
    • Train arrival and departure times will be adjusted up to ten minutes earlier or later than regularly scheduled.
    • The 09:34 train departing Union Station to Kitchener GO will not stop at Etobicoke North GO. 
      • If you’re travelling to Etobicoke North GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to Bloor-Yonge, then transfer to TTC Line 2 to Kipling. From Kipling, take TTC bus route 45B to Belfield Rd. at Kipling Ave., then walk approximately 3 minutes to Etobicoke North GO station. (1 hour 11 minutes)

    • If you’re travelling from Stratford or Kitchener GO stations, you can take regular route 30 GO buses between Stratford/Kitchener and Bramalea GO to connect to train service to Mount Dennis GO or stay on the bus to Hwy 407 Bus terminal to connect to the TTC Line 1 to Union Station.
    • If you’re travelling from Guelph Central, Acton or Georgetown GO stations, you can take regular GO bus route 33 to connect to train service at Mount Pleasant GO to connect to train service to Mount Dennis GO or stay on the bus to York Mill Bus Terminal. Please note that train service will end at Mount Dennis GO. 
    • If you’re travelling from Bramalea GO to Union, you can take the regular GO bus routes 30 and 47 to Hwy 407 Bus Terminal and connect to TTC Line 1 to Union Station.
    • If you are travelling from Weston station to Union Station: Take TTC Route 52 to connect to TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University) at Lawrence West station (60 minutes).
    • If you’re travelling to Union Station from all other stations, take the train to Mount Dennis GO and: From Mount Dennis, take the ECLRT Line 5 to connect to TTC Line 1 to Union Station (55 minutes).
    • There will be no GO Transit service at Bloor GO station. If you are travelling from Bloor station to Union Station: Take TTC Line 2 eastbound from Dundas West station (Bloor-Yonge) to connect to TTC Line 1 southbound (Yonge-University) at St. George station (30 minutes).

 

  • Monday September 21:
    • Train arrival and departure times will be slightly adjusted, arriving or departing up to ten minutes earlier or later than regularly scheduled.
    • The 09:56 train departing Bramalea GO to Union Station will not stop at Etobicoke North GO. 
      • If you’re travelling to Etobicoke North GO, take Brampton Transit bus route 15/115 from Bramalea GO to Airport Rd. at Jetliner Rd, walk to the east side and catch TTC bus route 52 to Dixon Rd. at Kipling Ave. Walk to the north side of Kipling and catch TTC bus route 45B to Belfield Rd. at Kipling Ave, then walk approximately 3 minutes to Etobicoke North GO. (45 minutes)
    • The 16:05 train departing Union Station to Bramalea GO will not stop at Etobicoke North GO. 
      • If you’re travelling to Etobicoke North GO, take TTC Line 1 from Union to St. George, then transfer to TTC Line 2 to Kipling. From Kipling, take TTC bus route 45A to Kipling at Belfield Rd., and walk approximately 3 minutes to Etobicoke North GO.

 

  • Tuesday September 22:
    • Train arrival and departure times will be adjusted up to ten minutes earlier or later than regularly scheduled. 

 

Regular service will resume on Wednesday September 23.
